The Owl and the Pussy Cat

(31 July, 2012) A canal is not your typical spot for an impromptu opera, but at Mile End Park, locals, opera goers, and even athletes dropped in on a performance of the Owl and the Pussy Cat, with a difference.

Part of the Mayor of London Presents ‘Surprises’ and London 2012 Festival, this lovely performance found a willing family audience and took people on an unusual journey through this classic nursery rhyme.

People sat on the river bank, which was teaming with wildlife! Frogs were hopping around and the kind weather re-made the English meadow experience of the Opening Ceremony, bringing a new audience to a different part of London and the Royal Opera House into a new neighborhood. More of this please!
