An interesting story, but not because Prince Charles is boycotting. Rather, I doubt very much that he was likely to go to the Games at all, so the boycott is entirely a publicity  stunt. All perfectly valid, but it begs the question as to what social significance the term boycott has. Surely, one has to have something at stake for the boycott to be some kind of principled sacrifice.

London 2012 has a new Higher Education agency that describes itself in the following way:
  ‘Podium’ is the Further and Higher Education Unit for the 2012 Games. The Unit has a nationwide remit and has two major aims;
To communicate both within the sector and with outside agencies about the potential for Universities and Colleges to support the successful staging and delivery of the 2012 Games.

LONDON 2012 NEVER TOOK PLACE: Re-imagining the Olympic zone is a two-day event to mark the launch of WE SELL BOXES, WE BUY GOLD.
This ongoing project explores the 2012 Olympic site and the Lower Lea Valley as a context for interdisciplinary research and artistic intervention. The 2012 logo was launched yesterday. While most of the coverage I have seen seems to be reporting negative opinions, I can’t help but wonder what kind of logo would have inspired other kinds of comments. Having watched the promotional video and read a bit more about the logo, I can see that this will be an interesting logo to study. In comparison, previous Games logos are easily forgotten. My intuition is that this logo will become embraced by the UK, as time goes by, providing it can get over …

An exhibition of sculptures for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games opened at the London City Hall on Feb. 9. Its purpose is to convey the Chinese people’s understanding and pursuit of the Olympic ideal to the world.The exhibition, which will close on Feb. 23, features 40 works, including “Quafoo Chasing After The Sun” and “Sports in Undeveloped Areas”.
